Rooted in Fresno.Built with community.

Fresno’s peacemaking and restorative work reaches back to 1982.

Community Justice Center formed in 2020 to carry that tradition forward.

Our mission.

Community Justice Centerseeks to cultivateindividual and collective well‑being, shared accountability, and healingthrough community‑driven researchand evidence‑based restorative processes.

The organization is newer than the work it carries.

Fresno’s restorative-justice history reaches back decades, and repeatedly expands from individual programs toward a broader community-safety and community-justice vision.

Community Justice Center carries the work forward.

People make community justice possible.

Community justice grows through what people bring.

People bring

  • Knowledge
  • Skill
  • Lived experience
  • Relationships
  • Compassion
  • Honesty
  • Curiosity
  • Commitment

Many roles. Shared responsibility.

Staff, facilitators, mediators, trainers, volunteers, mentors, and community practitioners each carry a different part of the work.

A volunteer board holds CJC’s work in public trust through governance, oversight, and accountability.

Lived experience is a strength, held alongside preparation, clear boundaries, training, supervision, and care.

Peacemaking is local.

CJC works with and beside individuals, families, neighborhoods, young people, schools, organizations, courts, public partners, and community groups across Fresno County.
